Portfolio quick start

Six tours and a published page, in about ten minutes. Nothing here needs a paid plan.

1. Make a workspace

Go to app.dotpano.com and sign up. It asks for your name and the name of your studio; the studio name becomes the workspace name and appears on your page, so use the one you trade under rather than a nickname.

A new workspace starts empty. That is deliberate — the demo portfolio you may have seen is for the version of the app that has no account behind it.

2. Choose your address

Open Your page from the navigation. The first field is the address your page will live at.

Lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens. A few words are reserved because they collide with the site's own paths. Pick something short: it goes in an email signature.

3. Add your tours

Go to Tours and choose Add tour. For a portfolio you need two things per tour:

  • The platform. Type any name. Matterport and Realsee are offered because they have connection guides, but CloudPano, Kuula, Panoee, 3DVista or anything else is a first-class entry, not a second-class one.
  • The link. The address the tour already opens at. It is checked as a link a browser would follow, http or https, and nothing else about it is verified — dotpano does not sign in to your platform to look.

A name and a link are enough. The other fields on that form — client, charge, hosting cost, term end — belong to the renewal half and can stay empty.

The free plan carries ten tours. That limit is enforced when you add the eleventh, and tours can be removed, so it is not a trap.

4. Choose what appears

Back on Your page, pick the tours to feature. Up to twenty-four on a paid plan, and on free the ten you have. Not everything you have shot belongs in front of a prospective client, which is why this is a choice rather than a dump of your inventory.

Each tour's picture is read from its own share card. If a platform gives no card, upload a cover instead. Anything you upload is stripped of the location data a camera writes into a photograph before it is stored.

Add a headline and a few lines about the studio, then whichever contact details you want shown: email, phone, website, and links to LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X. All of it is published on every plan, free included. Anything you leave empty is not drawn at all, so a page with only a name and a link is a page about a name and a link rather than a form with gaps in it.

5. Publish

Turn the publish switch on. That is the whole of it: the page is rendered by the server with no JavaScript, so the link opens the same in a preview pane, an old phone and whatever your client uses.

Turning it off makes the page a 404 again, and its images with it. There is no half-published state.

After that

Put the address in your bio, your proposals and your email signature. If you later want the renewal half, every tour you have entered already has its name, platform and link — adding a term end and a client to each is all that is left.
